Kiss Me Dangerous
“I swear, Cole, if you weren’t so preoccupied with staring at Patrina Foreman, you would have noticed that McKinnon was about to knock the hell out of Rick Summers just now for coming on to your sister,” Durango Westmoreland said, joining his cousin near the punch bowl.
“Who?” Cole asked, finally taking his eyes off the woman across the room, the same one he’d been standing here watching since she’d arrived at the party given in honor of his sister, Casey.
“Rick Summers. He’s been a pain in the—”
“No, I’m not talking about Summers. I’m talking about the woman. You said her name was Patrina …”
Durango shook his head, clearly seeing his cousin’s interest. “Her name is Patrina Foreman, but those who know her call her Trina. She’s a doctor in town.
In fact, she’s Savannah’s doctor and will be delivering the baby.” “Married?”
“She’s a widow. Her husband, Perry, was the sheriff and was gunned down by an escaped convict almost three years ago. Trina and Perry had been childhood sweethearts so she took his death pretty hard.”
Durango didn’t say anything for a few minutes and then said, “If you’re thinking what I think you’re thinking, you might want to kill the thought. You’re a Texas Ranger and Trina has sworn never to become involved with another lawman. Hell, to be totally honest, she hasn’t done too much dating at all. Other than her work, Trina’s life basically stopped when Perry died.”
Cole immediately thought, what a waste. Patrina Foreman was a looker. She’d certainly grabbed his attention the moment she’d walked in the room. He
couldn’t recall the last time something so potent had happened between him and a woman. And there was no way he would let the party end without at least getting an introduction—especially when he’d felt the strong sexual chemistry between them when their gazes had caught and held. There was no way she hadn’t felt it, as well, he was sure of it. And would even go so far as to place his ranger’s badge on it.
